Who We Are

The Kansas Society for Children with Challenges is determined that no handicapped or disabled child in Kansas will be denied equipment or services because of the inability of parents, guardians, or foster parent to pay the costs. The Society’s mission has always been to improve the health, well-being, education, and rehabilitation of challenged children in Kansas and to help them reach their fullest potential without regard to race, creed, or national origin.

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our daughter. We could never have afforded her cranial remolding helmet without your assistance. I can’t express with words our appreciation. Just know that you are amazing!

What We Do

From its inception in 1925, the Society has been an agency that Kansas families have turned to for help. We provide a financial safety net, often in cooperation with other agencies, for families who need our help because of the high cost of necessary equipment and services to keep challenged children safe, help them interact with the world, manage their medical situations, and more. In addition to its own resources, the Society can partner with other foundations and organizations to extend its ability to provide assistance grants.

To inquire about assistance, please call 316-262-4676 weekdays 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. or email ksfccwoods@gmail.com.

Medical Equipment

With advances continuing to be made in medical equipment and technology, the Society fields a variety of requests, including vehicle or home modifications, safety equipment, cranial remolding helmets, communication devices, and other therapeutic equipment.

We can’t thank you enough for your donation to purchase the space saver table, tomato jog stroller and the tomato sitter for our daughter after our home fire. We are so grateful to your organization. This allows us to give our daughter more opportunities to learn and interact with our family.

Why It Matters

child

The best way to explain the impact of the Society’s work is to share a few of the thank you letters received from families that have been helped. These bring home the message of how appreciated the Society’s assistance is by those who are most directly affected.

With heartfelt thanks for your part in making the bathroom renovation possible for our daughter. We appreciate your willingness in helping make her bathing experience safer by helping us fund the complete gutting of our bathroom and adding a shower where we can wheel her in and make a complete turn as we help her with her hygiene. Thank you so much.

Where We Serve

Families with children up to the age of 21 and living in any of Kansas’ 105 counties are eligible for assistance grants from the Society. From Sept. 1, 2024, through Aug. 31, 2025, we served 93 children in the following 28 counties.

How We Helped

My family would like to say thank you for helping us with the modification of a van for our daughter. It means the world to us and her. It has made our lives so much easier in not having to worry about the possibility of injuring her or ourselves since we no longer have to lift her. She loves being a big girl and sitting in her chair when we take her places. Your foundation means the world to us.
